Im volunteering/learning to use WP
Right now I’m trying to add the embed code of a video from another site to the text of the Description area in a category. The video shows up fine in the backend when I switch over to visual but when I update and try to view the category it drops that code.
Am I missing a step? Are you able to add videos to categories?
I’m using the Themify Ultra theme if that makes any difference.
Open source WordPress or WordPress.com?
Does the embed code contain an iframe? If so, it’s possible WordPress is stripping it out due to potential security issues.
I hate installing plugins for every little thing, but when a client had similar issues the iframe plugin helped.
Are you able to provide a screenshot of what you are trying to do and how? It will help us in understanding what you are trying to accomplish so we will be able to help you.

Try to use the embedded code [contains iframe tag]. That may be the possible thing you are missing out on.
